Inspiring the Next Generation Through the Prince Adeyinka Alli Essay Writing Competition 2024
At the Prince Adeyinka Alli Foundation (PAAF), we believe that young people have the ideas, creativity, and passion to shape a better Nigeria. The 2024 Prince Adeyinka Alli Essay Writing Competition was another opportunity to empower secondary school students to think critically, express themselves confidently, and contribute meaningful solutions to national issues.
The PAAEWC 2024 competition featured two thought-provoking topics. Junior Secondary School students wrote on "The Detrimental Impact of Tribalism on National Unity in Nigeria," while Senior Secondary School students explored "Illiteracy and Insurgency in Nigeria: A Call for Educational Reform." These themes encouraged participants to research, reflect, and propose practical ideas for building a stronger nation.
The competition attracted 40 entries from students across Nigeria. After an initial screening, 31 essays met the required standard and advanced to the assessment stage, with 14 entries from the Junior category and 17 from the Senior category.
Every shortlisted essay was carefully evaluated based on originality, clarity of expression, grammar, organization, referencing, and plagiarism checks to ensure a fair and transparent judging process. The results revealed exceptional talent, with five students scoring above 90%, demonstrating remarkable research originality, and analytical writing skills.
