PAAF INTER SCHOOL DEBATE COMPETITION IKOLE, EKITI.


The PAAF Inter-School Debate Competition held on the 20th June, 2023 at Egbe Oba High School, Ikole, Ekiti saw the participation of Six schools from the city, and the judges included esteemed member of the academic community and PAAF Staff from Ado. 

The schools in attendance were 

1.Ikole City College

2.Community High School, Orin Odo

3.St Mary's Girl Grammar School, Ikole Ekiti

4.Fiyinfolu High School, Oke Ayedun Ekiti

5. Comprehensive High School, Ijesha Isu

6. Egbeoba High School, Ikole Ekiti


Mrs Joy Godwyns.the PAAF state coordinator for Ekiti at the event educated the public about the mission and vision of prince Adeyinka Alli Foundation.


The topic of the debate "Subsidy removal is it a blessing or curse to the nation" had the speakers battle with articulate rhetoric's and organized speech to buttress their points.



The debate featured a single round of argument with two representatives from each school, which included the guest speaker and the supporting speaker. The debate was placed on 150 marks which included dressing, boldness and expression of the speakers.

The participants were well-prepared and presented their arguments with conviction and clarity. The judges were impressed with their performances and had a tough time selecting the winners. 





The audience was also captivated by the debaters and cheered on their favorite participants. After much deliberation and assessment of the delivery of each speaker, the following schools emerged as winners. 



First Position: St Mary's girl grammar School, Ikole Ekiti- 118 point

Second Position: City College, Ikole Ekiti-104 point 

Third Position: Community High School, Orin Odo- 99 point. 

The first, second and third position were given prizes which consist of school bags, novels, water bottles and PAAF exercise books.

The PAAF Inter-School Debate Competition was a huge success which showcased the intellectual prowess and eloquence of the young minds of Ikole local government and Ekiti state at large. 



The participants displayed remarkable confidence and maturity, and the judges were highly impressed with their performances. The competition was a testament to the importance of critical thinking and effective communication skills within the society. 

Teachers in attendance and the host school expressed gratitude to Prince Adeyinka Alli Foundation (PAAF) for the initiative of the debate. They expressed their hopes to see more of such events in the future.
