About the Competition
The Prince Adeyinka Alli
Essay Writing Competition is an academic contest open to students of all
secondary schools in Ekiti state. The competition rewards two winners yearly.
One student from the junior secondary school category and another from the
senior secondary school category.
The competition was
created to honour the educational exploits of the founder Prince Adeyinka Alli
and his commitment to improving the education sector in the state.
Objective
The goal of this
competition is to inspire the young people in Ekiti state to become excellent
argumentators and essayists who know how to drive home their points with facts.
The essay topics are meant to update and propel them to research current trends
and topics in the world.
Eligibility.

Essay submissions are free and are at no
cost.
·
Competition is open to all Ekiti state
indigenes.
·
Family members of the organizing team of
the Prince Adeyinka Alli Competition are not eligible to participate.
Essay Format
·
Maximum of 1,500 words (excluding
references)
·
At the beginning of the essay state only
your full names, state / local government area, email address and telephone
number.
·
All entries should be submitted in both MS
Word & Portable Document Format (PDF)
Essay Expectations
·
One essay per person should be submitted.
·
All entries must be original and not
plagiarized.
·
Entries must be written in English.
·
Essay should possess clarity of thought,
facts, creative flow, organization and proper referencing.
·
Once an essay is submitted, it is
considered a final submission and may not be modified, edited or replaced.

Junior Secondary School Category
·
1st prize: 50,000
·
2nd prize: 30,000
· 3rd prize: 20,000
Senior Secondary School Category
·
1st prize: 50,000
·
2nd prize: 30,000
· 3rd prize: 20,000
Top 5 in each category: Certificate of Participation, Publication of essays on the Prince Adeyinka Alli Foundation Blog/Website

Timelines:

Deadline for submissions February 6, 2023
· Prince Adeyinka Alli Foundation reviews
and submits the top 10 entries of each category to the Decision Panel. February
24, 2023
·
Blind review by the
Decision Panel who shall [individually] assess, grade and rank the entries: March
6 - 17, 2023.
- Decision on Top 5 entries of
each category by Decision Panel are published (without ranking) on PAAF
social media pages: 24 March, 2023.
*Decisions by the Judges are
final and are not subject to legal appeal
- Profiles of the Top 5
participants of each category are requested and published: March 27 – 9
April, 2023
- The Decision Panel will determine
the final ranking and winner (Top 3) from April 17 - 20, 2023.
- Overall winner (and essay)/results are declared/published on 24 April 2023.
